Ian Rankin’s Rebus series was my introduction to Scottish crime fiction (aka Tartain Noir) in my teens, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m a bit stubborn, and prety much read only crime fiction, mostly Scottish and British (the way I see it there’s a lot to get through!) I have a few favourite authors like Peter James and Alex Gray, but I absolutely love when I get to come back to Rebus. Midnight and Blue is the 25th in the Rebus series, and it’s an absolute cracker! With Rebus now behind bars in Edinburgh prison, he hasn’t lost any of his sarcasm, or desire to see justice done (by whatever method). Assisting detectives on the outside by gathering information on the inside, this was another brilliant book by Ian Rankin, and one which I couldn’t put down.
